Word+Image approaches 1,000, 000 million lines translated
2011-08-05
Since we began counting back in 2002, Word+Image will soon reach 1,000,000 lines translated. A standard line contains 55 characters. That means that early in 2012, on time for the company's 10th anniversary, Word+Image will have translated 55,000,000 characters, or 5,000,000 words. If you laid those words end to end they would nearly stretch from London to New York. And while those are a lot words, we focus more on quality than on quantity, for it is the precision of the words and sentences used in your written communications that make them effective.

Word+Image Inc. launches its new Web platform
2011-06-06
"The old site no longer fully represented what we actually do at Word+Image. An upgrade was long overdue," stated Michael Brewer, CEO of Word+Image. Word+Image has grown and expanded since its founding back in 2002. We’ve added new services on both the Word and Image sides, plus launched an online store. We needed a platform that represented and integrated all that we do. The new site at wordandimage.ch does all that.

Word+Image goes to Hollywood
2011-06-01
Famed film director Peter Jackson was surfing the web for just the right illustration for an essential scene in his remake of King Kong, when he came across the Word+Image website and an illustration by Michael Brewer. “To be honest, I thought a friend of mine was making a prank call," Michael recalled when recounting the phone call from Jackson's office back in 2004. The illustration, entitled “Loneliness", depicts an outline of a woman looking out of a window. Peter Jackson wanted the illustration for the cover of the script that Ann Darrow (played by Naomi Watts) reads in her cabin on board the ship. The camera focuses on it for a few brief moments. Originally, Ann Darrow was to toss the script out of the window and the camera was to zoom in on it floating away, but the scene was eventually edited. Those with a sharp eye and a bit of patience can find a credit for Michael Brewer at the end of the film. You can see the illustration and Michael Brewer's illustration portfolio here (link).
